Joe Mauer has been traded to the Red Sox
Last week I read an article in the fish-wrap factory - west side of the river (aka Star Tribune newspaper) about how the Boston Red Sox have been talking to the Twins about a trade for Joe Mauer the past two seasons.
The other day Laura and I were playing with the 'number' puzzle in the basement. She said, "Dad, look at 7, it's purple. That's Christopher's (CJ) favorite number and color!" I replied, "Why number 7?" "Joe Mauer, dad. He loooooves Joe Mauer."
That night it was my turn for bedtime duties. After reading a book and right before our prayer, I may have mentioned (jokingly of course) that we should pray that Joe Mauer doesn't move away to play for another team. Little did I know that those words would ignite a firestorm of hysteria at daycare.

Well, the next day Laura told CJ that Joe Mauer was traded. CJ completely lost it. He was crying so much so that Carla had to drop everything to go online and reassure him that it was not true.
Later that day, Mom went to pick up the kids. Carla and CJ's dad confronted Mom about where Laura heard about Joe Mauer being traded?

I can't believe that Laura even knows who Joe Mauer is! I bet Carla was not at all pleased about Laura spreading rumors - you never know what is going to set a kid off! Might have to start being very careful about what you say, Mike!
